Edit a thread title or a post
    #1 by adrien_be on Sep 15, 2011 4:11:24 PM

I just created a thread and called it "When using <cmsu:simpleSearch> and <cmsu:searchResultSnippet> links are not displayed properly and can't convert date into readable format"

But after creating it I realized that "<cmsu:simpleSearch>" and "<cmsu:searchResultSnippet>" have been taken off.

Is there any way to edit my thread's title?

I also could not find out how to edit a post/reply either, any idea?

You may want to consider moving to a third party forum such as stackoverflow.com to increase Magnolia's exposure as well as the quality of the forum.

So far my experience on Magnolia's forum is very so so ... I get answers but the user experience is pretty low and can confuse the person asking a question as well as people trying to help. In short: it is damaging the Magnolia Community.

This is not an aggression, just a thought after many weeks/months using it and getting tired of it.

    Hi Adrien,

We are well aware of the many limitations and shortcomings of this forum; thanks for taking the time to remind us, though !

Using a third party platform was considered some time ago. However, we DO have a forum, and as such, it'd have been a pity not to use it. We also had an existing community on mailing lists which we did not want to alienate. Using our forum allowed us to develop functionality that "synchronizes" those lists and the forum. (users can now migrate from one to the other as they please)

Some of us are monitoring SO, so you might get answers over there too. However, seeing that you're still around, why not help a little, any way you can ? After all, this forum is entirely open source. I'd be more than willing to guide anyone who would like to patch the forum, and accept contributors. Ideas and suggestions are also welcome. (and yes, self-edit is on the list)

In shorter-term news, should I go ahead and remove your first (badly titled) thread ?
