    Forum Inquirer Guide?
    #1 by jchocholacek on Nov 21, 2012 9:04:21 AM

    Reading some of the last posts, I wonder whether it wouldn't be useful to introduce a "checklist form" to fill before starting new "help me" thread in the "User List" forum. Something like:

    1. Did you checked the Documentation (for at least 2 hours)?
    2. Did you checked the Wiki (for at least 1 hour)?
    3. Did you checked this Forum (for at least 1 hour)?
    4. Did you prepared at least something from the following:
    a) log listing;
    b) snippet of the problem code;
    c) screenshot;
    d) your environment summary (OS, JDK version, Tomcat version, Magnolia version, list of installed not-out-of-the-box modules, ...)
    5. OK, if you've answered "yes" to all 4 above questions, you can start writing your help request - but remember to provide as much details as possible; other users are not mind-readers, so the more detail you provide, the more accurate answer you'll get.

    Hey Jozef,

    Sorry for the late reply.

    #4 makes a lot of sense, and is something we require from customers on support.
    #1 #2 and #3 and #5 are a little to aggressive ;) We could have a nice reminder somewhere about this. Ultimately, people get it, after getting no response.

    +1 for the guidelines

    Not sure if this forum supports sticky threads though...
